Sir,
Please allow me a column in your esteemed and well-circulated daily to express my grievance against the deplorable condition of the drains in Ward No.21 of Kanpur.
The condition of drains in our locality is so deplorable. As most of the drains have not been repaired for a long time and are full of dirt, waste tea cups, carry bags and rubbish, they are not in a condition to release huge wastewater from our locality. As most of the drains are in stagnant condition, the nuisance of flies and mosquitoes is on the rise day by day. The foul smell spreading from the drains causes an unhealthy atmosphere. Above all, the problem of waterlogging during heavy downpours is a common event in our locality. Now the people of our Ward are not at ease because of this poor drainage system. Though the authorities have been informed of the problem, they remain indifferent.
Under these circumstances, I appeal to the Mayor of Kanpur to take immediate steps to repair the drains of our locality for the well-being of the common people.

कानपुर के वार्ड नंबर 21 में नालों की दयनीय स्थिति के खिलाफ अपनी शिकायत व्यक्त करने के लिए मुझे कृपया अपने सम्मानित और अच्छी तरह से प्रसारित दैनिक कॉलम में अनुमति दें।
हमारे मोहल्ले में नालों की स्थिति बहुत ही दयनीय है। चूंकि अधिकांश नालों की मरम्मत लंबे समय से नहीं की गई है और गंदगी, बेकार चाय के कप, कैरी बैग और कचरे से भरे हुए हैं, वे हमारे इलाके से भारी अपशिष्ट जल छोड़ने की स्थिति में नहीं हैं। अधिकांश नालों की हालत खराब होने के कारण दिन-ब-दिन मक्खियां व मच्छरों का प्रकोप बढ़ रहा है। नालों से फैल रही दुर्गंध से माहौल खराब होता है। सबसे बढ़कर, भारी बारिश के दौरान जलजमाव की समस्या हमारे इलाके में एक आम घटना है। अब इस खराब जल निकासी व्यवस्था के कारण हमारे वार्ड के लोगों को आराम नहीं है। अधिकारियों को समस्या से अवगत कराने के बाद भी वे उदासीन बने हुए हैं।
इन परिस्थितियों में, मैं कानपुर के मेयर से अपील करता हूं कि आम लोगों की भलाई के लिए हमारे इलाके की नालियों की मरम्मत के लिए तत्काल कदम उठाएं।
