7. On this day every temple of Lord Shiva is grandly decorated and worship is done by anointing him with milk or water.
8. On this day the unmarried girls of India keep waterless fast and worship Shiva to get their wish.
9. It is a belief that Lord Shiva is very pleased with consecration of Belpatra, Dhatura, Ber, fruits and milk.
10. According to Shiva Mahapuran, Lord Bholenath appeared in the form of a big Jyotirlinga on this night and Brahma and Vishnu first worshiped him.
11. It is believed that Lord Bholenath gets pleased with his devotees very quickly.
12. Lord Shiva is also called the destroyer of the universe, that is, whenever tyranny and sin increase in the earth, Lord Shiva destroys tyranny and sin by coming in the form of an incarnation.

1. Out of the twelve Shivratri of the year, Mahashivratri is the darkest and most energy impacting night.
2. In the third period of Shivratri, for the first time each and every Adi appeared from the Lord in the form of the last Jyoti Stambh.
3. Brahma, in the form of a swan, started searching for the end of the pillar and in the form of a boar, Vishnu started searching for its beginning under the earth, but he failed.
4. Lord Shiva appeared in the form of pure formless form of Agni Jyotirlinga.
5. It is said that on this day 64 Jyotirlingas of Shiva appeared out of which only 12 are visible.
6. Lord Shiva is called by many names like- Bhole, Shankar, Mahadev, Mahakal, Nataraj, Neelkanth, Shashidhar, Gangadhar, Maharudra etc.
7. On this day, Bhole Baba is worshiped by fasting for the whole day. And an attempt is made to please Shiva by staying awake at night.
8. Lord Shiva's sage-like form and love for snakes and scorpions teaches human beings to sacrifice and love only living beings.
9. As unique as Neelkanth's form is, similarly his worship is also unique. He becomes happy only with cannabis, datura, wild fruits and vine leaves.
10. No ritual and worship is required to please Mahadev. He becomes happy with only a little Prasad, that is why he is called Bhole Baba.
